Sam H. Dixon, age 87, of Montpelier, Ohio, passed away early on Tuesday morning, December 22, 2015, in his home. Sam was an inspector at The Aro Corporation for 27 years prior to his retirement. He had also worked at Electrolite, GM and Johns-Mansville. After he retired, he worked part-time at the Bryan Walmart and Montpelier Auto Auction for 4½ years each. Sam owned the Apache Gun Store outside of Defiance, Ohio, from 1976-1978. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Montpelier. Sam H. Dixon was born on July 20, 1928, in Coeburn, Virginia, the son of Frank M. and Ada B. (Corder) Dixon. He married Norma J. Haseman on April 2, 1983, in Montpelier, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on March 25, 2015. Sam is survived by stepdaughters, Lois (Lavon) Flower, of Montpelier, Lorie Knapp (and Kent Wolff), of Montpelier, Linda (Scott) Pettit, of Montpelier, and Lisa (Kevin) Coffman, of Bellevue, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Eura Dixon, of Bryan; grandchildren, Kimmy Dixon, of Bryan, and Sammy Dixon, of Allen Park, Michigan; daughter, Nancy (Seth) Deming, in Texas; sons, Roy Dixon, in Florida, Rex (Barb) Dixon, in Georgia, John Dixon, in Defiance, and Sam (Sherri) Dixon, Jr., in Defiance; and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Evelyn Dixon, who passed away in 1980, his second wife, Norma J. Dixon, and two sons, Frank and Jim Dixon. Visitation for Sam will be held on Thursday, December 24, 2015, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Paul Gruetter officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens near Defiance. Memorial contributions may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Montpelier or the American Heart Association.
