Laurbell M. Bowers, age 103, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 7:10 P.M. on Thursday, December 17, 2015, at Genesis HealthCare-Bryan Center, where she was a resident. Mrs. Bowers was a lifelong resident of West Unity, Ohio, and was a member of Clays Church in West Unity until it closed. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting and especially enjoyed Christmas when the whole family would get together. Laurbell M. Bowers was born on September 6, 1912, in West Unity, the daughter of Elmer Edwin and Mary (Waldvogel) Short. She married Leroy Bowers on October 21, 1930, in West Unity and he preceded her in death on June 8, 1985. Survivors include three daughters, Donabell Bickham, of Waldron, Michigan, Betty (Ronald) Sabins, of West Unity, and Violet (Robert) Nailor, of Bryan; one son, Charles (Barbara) Bowers, of Bryan; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Gearig and Beatrice Geesey, and a son-in-law, Donald Bickham. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2015, from 3:00-7:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Rich Tavierne officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Grove Cemetery near West Unity. Memorials are requested to the American Cancer Society.
