Barbara L. Hug, age 92, of Blakeslee, Ohio, and a lifelong resident of Edon, Ohio, died at 8:00 A.M. on Monday, October 26, 2015, at Genesis HealthCare-Bryan Center, Bryan, Ohio, where she was a patient. A 1942 graduate of Edon High School, Mrs. Hug began her working career at Spangler Candy Company in Bryan. She then worked as a housekeeper for eighteen years, as well as being a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Blakeslee, the Rosary Altar Society, and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was an avid quilter, making quilts for the church festivals, and also spent many years helping with funeral dinners at the church. Barbara L. Hug was born on March 5, 1923, in Northwest Township, Williams County, Ohio, the daughter of Lee A. and Clela (Dick) Ricketts. She married Cleo M. Hug on December 29, 1945, in Blakeslee, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2005. Mrs. Hug is survived by four sons, Michael (Lynda) Hug, of Fremont, Indiana, Larry (Diana) Hug, of Edon, John (Linda) Hug, of Edgerton, and Marvin (Pam) Hug, of Montpelier, Ohio; three daughters, Lois (Donald III) Mullins, of Middlebury, Indiana, Janie (Tom) Sheline, of Millersburg, Indiana, and Teresa “Sis” Hug, of Bryan, Ohio; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one great-great-grandchild, one brother, Ted Ricketts, and two sisters, Laurabell Radabaugh and Laurene Towers. Services for Barbara L. Hug will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Blakeslee, Ohio, with Reverend Daniel Borgelt amd Reverend Frederick Duschl officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery near Blakeslee. Visitation will be in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio, from 3:00-8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, with a scripture service at 8:00 P.M. Memorials in the name of Barbara L. Hug may be given to the American Cancer Society.
