Phyllis E. Hug

Phyllis E. Hug, age 84, of Blakeslee, Ohio, and a lifelong resident of Edon, Ohio, died peacefully at 9:55 A.M. on Thursday, October 8, 2015, in her home in the comfort of her family after an extended illness. A 1948 graduate of Edon High School, Mrs. Hug was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Blakeslee, where she was also a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed collecting angels and bells. Phyllis E. Hug was born on February 11, 1931, in Bridgewater, Ohio, the daughter of Fay and Susie (Stantz) Thorp. She married Junior F. “Bud” Hug on May 26, 1951, in Blakeslee, and he preceded her in death on November 15, 1996. Survivors include her children, David (Sarah) Hug, of Bryan, Ohio, Daniel (Lori) Hug, of Edon, Deb (Rick) Stark, of Edgerton, Ohio, Dennis (Susan) Hug, Dee (Gary) Herman, both of Bryan, Dawn (Rob) Divjak, and Dale Hug, both of Edon; twenty grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; fourteen step-great-grandchildren; one son-in-law, Ray Sheline, of Hamilton, Indiana; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were one daughter, Donna Sheline; five brothers, LaVon, Leo, Victor, Darrell and Carmon Thorp; and five sisters, Lenore Allomong, Velma Galliers, Betty Morgan, Darlene Siebenaler, and Donna Marie Thorp. Phyllis’s family also extends a special thank you to her care givers, Rachel Burkey, Elizabeth Burkey, Danielle Fender and Rebekah Needham, for the tender care they extended to Phyllis. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2015, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon, Ohio, with recitation of the rosary at 8:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 12, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Blakeslee, with Reverend Daniel Borgelt officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Blakeslee. Memorials are requested to Community Health Professionals Hospice or Cancer Assistance of Williams County.
