Meryl B. Brillhart, age 90, of Edon, Ohio, passed away on September 5, 2015. Mr. Brillhart was a lifelong farmer and had also worked for the Ohio Turnpike in road maintenance prior to retiring in 1989. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, having served on the USS Portsmouth. Meryl was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed woodworking and was always willing to help someone in need. Meryl B. Brillhart was born on May 11, 1925, in Henry County, Ohio, the son of Vernon G. and Nora (Nelson) Brillhart. He married Phyllis Jean Bickham on February 4, 1951, in West Unity, Ohio, and she survives. Meryl is also survived by his children, Janette (Randy) Coles, of Edon, Craig Brillhart, of Edon, and Lori (Brad) Schudel, of Sturgis, Michigan; grandchildren, Seth (Angie) Coles, of Edon, Leslie (Jake) Wilson, of Lagrange, Indiana, and Tyler Schudel, of Sturgis; a great-grandson, Ian Coles; brother, Chalmer Brillhart, of Twinsburg, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gale, Donald and Norris Brillhart. Visitation for Meryl B. Brillhart will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Krill Funeral Home in Edon. Private family grave side services will be held at Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Williams County Department of Aging Transportation program or Community Health Professionals Hospice.
