John E. Bacon, age 95, of Bryan, Ohio, and a long time resident of Fayette, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015, at his residence. He retired from Fayette Manufacturing, now TRW Automotive, after 36 years of service. John was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Signal Corps. He enjoyed his once or twice daily walks to visit with people at the post office in Fayette. John enjoyed traveling and was always ready to help people, especially his elderly neighbors. John E. Bacon was born on May 2, 1920, in Fayette, Ohio, the son of Harvey and Edna (Thorton) Bacon. He attended Kanauer Country School and Fayette High School. He married Wanda I. Hippert on November 10, 1939, in Wauseon, Ohio, and she survives. Mr. Bacon is also survived by his son, Stanley Bacon, of Bryan; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Pauline Jones, of Fayette, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leonard, Virgil and Marvin Bacon; and sisters, Mildred Bacon, Alma Ives and Doris Snow. Visitation for John E. Bacon will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015, from 12:00-3:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Funeral services will be held immediately following visitation at 3:00 P.M. with Pastor John MacFarlane officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Union Cemetery in Fayette. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested by the family to be made to the Williams County Humane Society or an organization of the donor’s choice.
