E. June Friskney, age 92, of Camden, Michigan, and longtime Edon, Ohio, area resident, died on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Northern Lakes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Angola, Indiana, where she was a patient. Mrs. Friskney was a 1941 graduate of Metz, Indiana, High School. After living in Edon, she and her husband moved to Montpelier, Ohio, with his work and upon retirement they built their “dream home” on Lake Diane, near Camden. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing and praising her Lord all of her life, leaving her family with the love of God and music in their hearts. In her later years she enjoyed the companionship of her friends around the lake, who were affectionately called “The Ladies of the Lake.” She was also a devoted member of the Church of Christ for nearly seventy-five years. E. June Friskney was born on June 1, 1923, in Metz, Indiana, the daughter of Ernest and Leona (Smith) Eyster. She married the love of her life, Raymond L. Friskney, on April 20, 1941, in Metz, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on October 12, 2000. Survivors include one daughter, Sandra (Thomas) Reamsnyder of Salt Springs, Florida, one son, Gilbert (Carole) Friskney, of Camden; six grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Maxine Keller, of Auburn, Indiana, Jeanette Haase, of Sarasota, Florida, and Marlene Miller, of Salt Springs, Florida; and her special friend and companion, Shirley Kinner. She was also preceded in death by an infant son and one sister, Marguerite Gowthrop. A memorial service celebrating the life of E. June Friskney will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2015, at 2:00 P.M. in the Edon Church of Christ, Edon, Ohio, with Pastor Dean Phillips officiating. Private interment will take place in Edon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in the name of E. June Friskney are requested to the Edon Church of Christ or to Lakes James Christian Assembly.
