Richard L. “Jake” Reas, age 66, of Hesperia, Michigan, died at 6:35 A.M. on Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Trinity Health Mercy Hospital in Muskegon, Michigan, after an extended illness. Mr. Reas was a graduate of Eastside High in Butler, Indiana, and upon graduation joined the United States Navy and then transfered to the Marines. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. A tool and die maker by trade, he operated Jake’s Machine and Tool in Hesperia for twenty-five years until his retirement and had worked for Bentler Automotive for many years. He was a member of the DAV and the Holton, Michigan American Legion Post #0397. He was a family man who especially doted over his two grandsons. Richard L. “Jake” Reas was born on September 12, 1948, in Auburn, Indiana, the son of Lavon A. and Phyllis M. (Beard) Reas. He married Rosanne I. Webb on December 4, 1970, in Butler, Indiana, and she survives. Survivors also include one daughter, Tieme (Ted) Schuberg, of Hesperia; one son, Jared (Toni Miller) Reas, also of Hesperia; two grandsons, Eric and Wade Schuberg; his father, Lavon Reas, of Edgerton, Ohio; two sisters, Carolyn (Lynn) Myers, of Kendallville, Indiana, and Jeanette Reas, of Edgerton; and one brother, Keith “Ike” (Beth) Reas, of Butler, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis, in 2009. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton, Ohio. Services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton with Pastor Chris Mosley officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, with grave side military rites conducted by Bryan VFW Post #2489 and the United States Marine Honor Guard. Memorials are requested to the Wounded Warrior Project.
