Robert L. Bowman, age 89, of Sherwood, Ohio, died at 5:30 A.M. on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at Dream Haven Assisted Living in Edgerton, where he was a resident. Mr. Bowman was a 1943 graduate of Edgerton High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a lifelong farmer and throughout the years was employed by White Motors, Challenge Cook Brothers, Bard Manufacturing and Federal Fertilizer in Butler, Indiana. He also was a salesman for Moorman Feed Company and was a rural mail carrier for the Ney Post Office, retiring from both of them. He was also an avid fisherman, enjoyed camping and his winter trips to Arizona, and was a member of the Ney American Legion Post #680. Robert L. Bowman was born on November 20, 1925, in Milford Township of Defiance County, Ohio, the son of Virgil C. and Rita O. (Miller) Bowman. He married Jean M. Stotz on October 20, 1948, in Edgerton and she preceded him in death on April 28, 2003. Survivors include two sons, Mike (Sue) Bowman of Bryan, Ohio, and Tom Bowman, of Glendale, Arizona; three grandchildren, David (Cathy) Bowman, Greg (Nichole) Bowman and Tonya (Bowman) and Jen Horvath; and seven great-grandchildren, Alicia, Sabrina, David, Ella and Ethan Bowman and Riley and Brody Horvath. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 30, 2015, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton. Services will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Reverend Kurt Letcher officiating with vistation one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, with grave side military rites conducted by Bryan American Legion Post #284. Memorials are requested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
