Charles “Chaddy” W. Lane, Sr., age 70, of Bryan, Ohio, died on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at his home with his family at his side. Charles was a Police Officer with the Allen County (Indiana) Police Department for 30 years. He attained the rank of Sergeant as a road patrol deputy. He also served as a Deputy Coroner for Allen County for 22 years. Charles was a member of Masonic Lodge #740 in New Haven, Indiana, the Mizpah Shrine, York Rite and Scottish Rite in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and the Fraternal Order of Police and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan. He was also a HAM radio operator “KI4MGE.” Born on March 21, 1944, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, he was the son of Henry W. and Louise B. (Yates) Lane, Sr. He married Terri Jo Schenkel in Fort Wayne on July 11, 1998, and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Michelle (Dennis) Turkette, of Fort Wayne, Constance (Mark) Burns, of Fort Wayne, Charles (Heather) Lane, Jr., of Fort Wayne, Crystal Schenkel, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, and Sherri Schenkel, of Bryan; 11 grandchildren, including Jolana (JoJo); seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Patricia Murphy, of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Henry W. Lane, Jr. and Robert I. “Unkle Sam” Schoepke. Visitation for Charles will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, from 3:00-7:30 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Masonic Services will be held at 7:30 P.M., following visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. with an hour of visitation prior to the service at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bryan, with Father James Halleron officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Edgerton, Ohio. Contributions in memory of Charles may be given to the family to help with expenses.
