Cleo “Leroy” Thiel, age 59, of Camden, Michigan, died at his home on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. Cleo served in the United States Marine Corps. He was an avid jokester--“a true legend.” He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved motorcycles, 4-wheelers and working on cars. Cleo Thiel was born on May 22, 1955, in Hicksville, Ohio, the son of Cleo John and Edith (Oberlin) Thiel. He married Laura Ann Hayden on May 10, 1975, in Hicksville, Ohio, and she survives. Surviving in addition to his wife, Laura, are daughters, Tania Thiel-Wann, of Defiance, Ohio, and Christina Thiel, of Toledo; son, Trinity Nathan Thiel, of Defiance; six grandsons, Austin, Devin, James, Jacob, Blaze and Brayden; two granddaughters, Nikyla and Melody and one on the way; sister, Rhonda Vanover, of Ashley, Indiana; and brother, George Thiel, of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Timothy J. Thiel. A celebration of Cleo’s life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 6:00 P.M. in the Bryan American Legion Post #284. Krill Funeral Service, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, is handling arrangements. Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
