Richard H. “Rick” Doughten, age 57, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 6:50 P.M. on Friday, December 5, 2014, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio, after an extended illness. Mr. Doughten was a 1976 graduate of Bryan High School, received his Associate Degree in business and attended the University of Toledo. He was employed by Metaldyne Manufacturing until the plant closing. Rick was very athletic, participating in football and basketball in high school and playing Industrial League softball and for many years was an umpire. He enjoyed swimming in his youth, was an avid golfer and bowler, participating in several leagues, and loved playing chess with the Bryan Chess Club. Richard H. “Rick” Doughten was born on November 17, 1957, in Montpelier, Ohio, the son of William and Frances (Garner) Doughten. Survivors include one sister, Marcia (Steve) Winkler, of Bryan; one nephew, Jared (Stephanie) Frymire, and their son, Benjamin, of Defiance, Ohio; and one niece, Tiffany Frymire, and her fiancee, Martin Morris, and their daughter, Leslie, of London, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services and interment in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier, will be private.
