Dema Alma Smith Krill, age 85, of Edgerton Ohio, entered into Christ’s eternal church on Friday, November 7, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born in Franklin County, Groveport, Ohio, on May 6, 1929, the daughter of Joseph Samuel Smith and Edna Eakin Smith. She was a member of the Groveport High School class of 1947 and a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Human Ecology, where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and later the OSU President’s Club. She was a member of the Emanuel United Methodist Church near Edgerton, the United Methodist Women, of which she served in many capacities throughout the years. Mrs. Krill enjoyed raising her family and her careers as the Teen-age Youth Director of the Zanesville YWCA and as home economics teacher at Edgerton High School. She participated in the Williams County Retired Teachers Association and served as a 4-H club and Jr. Leader advisor for many years, as well as a school house volunteer interpreter at Sauder Village. Dema thoroughly enjoyed being a very active member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 65 years, where she served as Past Deputy Grand Matron (1979), Past Grand Representative to South Dakota, (1998), State Chair of OES Charities, Past Matron of both the Edgerton and Bryan chapters, and was a 50-year member of Ladies Oriental Shrine, Thea Court #5, Columbus. On October 26, 1952, she married Cleon David Krill in Groveport, Ohio. They created a loving and wonderful home for five children and now have fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Cleon; three daughters, Beverly (John) Emch, of Archbold, Ohio, Bonny (Preston) Justice, of Gainesville, Georgia, and Jane (Dean) Thompson, of Bethesda, Maryland; one son, Joseph (Rosemary) Krill, of Edgerton; fifteen grandchildren, Kate Emch, Andrew Emch, Jeremy Kohler, Hanna Kohler Epley, Seth Kohler, Kaleb Kohler, Rebecca Justice, Kelly Krill Bratsberg, Samuel Krill, Franklin Krill, Elizabeth Krill, Marshall Thompson, Kendall Thompson and Grace Dema Thompson; three great-grandchildren, Silas and Carrington Kohler and Lincoln Krill; a son-in-law, Lee Kohler, of Baltimore, Ohio; and one sister, Jane Smith Becker McFadzen, of Ormond Beach, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Rebecca Krill Kohler, in 1986, and a grandson, Joseph Emch, in 2001. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 10, 2014, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton, with an Eastern Star service held at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. in Emanuel United Methodist Church near Edgerton with Reverend R. L. Barnett officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. Memorials may be given in lieu of flowers to the Order of the Eastern Star Cancer Fund.
