Donald J. Andrews, age 85, of Montpelier, Ohio, passed away at 8:15 P.M. on Friday, October 31, 2014, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio. Don retired from Mohawk as a machinist and had worked on the Wabash Railroad as an engine mechanic. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was discharged at the rank of Sergeant First Class. Don was a member of the Bryan VFW Post 2489 and Montpelier American Legion Post 109. He was able to take the last Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. on October 15, 2014. Born on April 22, 1929, in Montpelier, Ohio, he was the son of Cleo and Donna (Mayfield) Andrews. He married Doris E. Harrington on June 19, 1951, and she preceded him in death. Don is survived by his sons, Daniel (Pamela) Andrews, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Robert (Paula) Andrews, of Montpelier; grandchildren, Erin Andrews, of Okeechobee, Florida, Angel (Dan) Frattinger, of Chicago, Illinois, Katie Andrews, of Hartley, Iowa, Joshua Barr, of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Jennifer Barr, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Tabetha Barr, of Montpelier; and great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Bryce Johnson, of Okeechobee, Florida, and Mary and McKay Frattinger, of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Doris Andrews, and four brothers. Funeral services for Donald J. Andrews will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, where military rites will be accorded by the Bryan VFW Post 2489 at 4:00 P.M.
