Neil Lambert Holthues, age 88, of Montpelier, Ohio, died on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, in his home. Neil grew up on a farm in Montana. He was raised farming there and later moved to Ohio. He entered the Marine Corps, fighting in World War II from 1944-1946, and returned to graduate from Edon High School in 1947. He was a truck driver for Simpson Industries for over 40 years and held the title for highest seniority within the company. He was a member of the Edon American Legion Post #662. Neil was born on January 16, 1926, in Helena, Montana, the son of Lambert and Faye (Till) Holthues. He married Jean Marie Ingersoll on July 3, 1965, in Bryan, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on December 10, 2004. Neil is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Scott) Stantz, of Montpelier; two step-daughters, Linda (Donald) Lero and Paula (John Tijerina) Lewis, both of Defiance, Ohio; three grandchildren, Amanda (Joel) Burt, Kylie (Austin Taylor) Stantz and, Jayson Stantz; four step-grandchildren, Brian (Lyndy) Mitchell, Corey (Heather) Mitchell, and Sabastian and Savanna Tijerina; two great-granchildren, Cody Green, Jr. and Kinslie Taylor; four step-great-grandchildren, Carter and Carly Mitchell, Corey Mitchell, Jr. and Corbin Mitchell; one brother, Carl Holthues; two sisters, Wilma Entenman and Jean Orzechowski; and a sister-in-law, Ruthanna Holthues. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, Jack Holthues, and one sister, Violet Dawn Fuller. Services for Neil Lambert Holthues will be held on Saturday, October, 18, 2014, at 1:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon, Ohio, with Pastor Roger Marlow officiating. Military funeral honors will be provided by the U.S. Marine Corps. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014, from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in the name of Neil Lambert Holthues may be made to Disabled American Veterans, Williams County Chapter #83 .
