Joseph Eric Roberts, age 49, of Harahan, Louisiana, died on October 7, 2014, at Ochsner Medical Center, New Orleans, Louisiana, after a brief illness. A graduate of Bryan High School, he attended Four County Joint Vocational in auto mechanics and was an ASC Certified Master Auto Technician. Joe was a veteran of the United States Army and had been employed by Jefferson Auto Service in Jefferson, Louisiana. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, a diehard Ford enthusiast and enjoyed old time rock-n-roll. His ability to work on cars led him to build and race his own car while stationed in Germany during his time in the service, winning numerous purses. Joseph Eric Roberts was born on March 3, 1965, in Weilheim, Bavaria, Germany, the son of Melvin “Joe” and Joyce (Hunter) Roberts. Survivors include one son, Chad Joseph “C.J.” Roberts, of Harahan, Louisiana, his parents, Melvin “Joe” (Linda) Roberts and Joyce Roberts, of Bryan, one sister, Joyce (Rob) Russell, of Stryker, Ohio, two stepsisters, Jodi (Tyson) Spangler, of Edgerton, Ohio, and Casie Phillips, of Bryan, and a special aunt and uncle, Laura and Ron Coblentz, of Carriere, Mississippi. A memorial service celebrating the life of Joseph Eric Roberts will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at 6:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, with Pastor Larry Snavely officiating. Visitation will be held in the funeral home for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 4:00 P.M. Private interment will be held in Evansport Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to the family for expenses.
