Irvin M. “Hoot” Kimpel, age 98, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 5:00 P.M. on Monday, September 22, 2014, at Park View Nursing Center in Edgerton, where he was a resident. Mr. Kimpel attended Edgerton High School and was a lifelong farmer and substitute mail carrier in Edgerton for thirty years. He was a also lifelong member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church near Edgerton and a fan of the Detroit Tigers. Irvin M. “Hoot” Kimpel was born on March 29, 1916, near Edgerton, the son of Fred W. and Gertrude (Prediger) Kimpel. He married Dorothy L. Lindquist on March 10, 1945, at Zion Lutheran Church near Edgerton and she preceded him in death on March 27, 1998. Survivors include one daughter, Sharon (Ronald) Sechler, and one son, Fred (Cathy) Kimpel, both of Edgerton; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Harold “Whitey” Kimpel, and two sisters, Alberta Goshia and Arlene Keppeler. Services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church near Edgerton, Ohio, with Reverend Kurt Letcher officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Friday. Memorials are requested to Zion Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
