M. Thomas Sechler

M. Thomas Sechler, age 75, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 10:52 P.M. on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio. Mr. Sechler was a 1957 graduate of Edgerton High School and served in the United States Army from 1961-1963. He was a self-employed carpenter, was a member of John D. Smith Post #10 Edgerton American Legion, of which he was past commander, was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton and was a member of the Edgerton Historical Society. Tom enjoyed working in his yard and groomed it to perfection. M. Thomas Sechler was born on September 26, 1938, in Edgerton, Ohio, the son of Harold J. and Alberta E. (Morgan) Sechler. He married Rita J. Nichols on February 27, 1960, in Edgerton and she survives. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Lou Vaughn, of Edgerton, Ohio, and JoAnn (Gary) Jennings, of Morganton, North Carolina; three brothers, Richard (Norma) Sechler, of Garrett, Indiana, Ron (Sharon) Sechler, of Edgerton, and David (Robin) Sechler, of Bryan, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Carol Morgan, of Edgerton, and Eleanor Sechler, of Hamilton, Indiana; and a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Paul Kyser. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert Morgan and Michael Sechler. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 15, 2014, in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. with recitation of the rosary at 8:00 P.M. on Monday. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary Catholic Church with Father David Cirata officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Edgerton with grave side military rites conducted by Bryan VFW Post #2489. Memorials are requested to the Edgerton Historical Society or to Community Health Professionals Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice.
