Margaret A. Betts, age 88, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 11:08 A.M. on Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, near Defiance, Ohio. Margaret worked for the Bryan City Schools, starting in the cafeteria, then became secretary at Lincoln School. She was also a cashier for Mohre-Wilson Auctioneers for over 20 years. She had also worked at Bard Manufacturing and for the War Department in Washington, D.C. during World War II. Margaret was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Progressive Study Club, had been Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, was a Gray Lady at Bryan Hospital and was a Charter Member of the Board of Directors of the Williams County YWCA. Born April 22, 1926, in West Unity, Ohio, she was the daughter of Charles Howard and Laura Effie (Ellsworth) Strasbaugh. On April 20, 1946, she married Feroen J. Betts and he survives in Bryan. Margaret is also survived by her daughters, Pamela A. Bryan, of Vermillion, Ohio, Teresa (Dr. Charles) Cobau, of Toledo, Ohio; her son, Feroen John (Joy) Betts, of Bryan; her grandchildren, Nathan Bowden, T.J. Bryan, Michael Bryan, Jacob Betts, Sarah Betts and Rachel Betts; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Catherine Emmons, of Fayette, Ohio; and a brother, Charles Strasbaugh, Jr., of Forrest, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, David Betts, granddaughter, Anastacia Nessif, sister, Ruth Mitchell, and brother, Miles Strasbaugh. Visitation for Margaret A. Betts will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2014, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 12, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. at Wesley United Methodist Church with Reverend Becky Schofield Motter officiating. Memorial contributions are requested to the David Betts Double Play Diamond, Wesley United Methodist Church, Bryan Area Foundation Betts Family Scholarship or Community Health Professionals Hospice.
