Richard C. Schwarzbek, age 79, of Sherwood, Ohio, and for thirty-nine years a resident of Williams Center, Ohio, died at 7:39 A.M. on Monday, August 18, 2014, at Genesis HealthCare-Bryan Center after an extended illness. Mr. Schwarzbek was a 1952 graduate of Edon High School and served in the United States Army from 1956-1957. He was employed by Elder Pharmaceuticals for twenty years and then at Isaac Tire in Bryan for sixteen years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bryan and the Northwest Ohio Harness Racing Association. He was also an avid golfer. Richard C. Schwarzbek was born on September 18, 1934, in Ney, Ohio, the son of Carl F. and Elma (Connin) Schwarzbek. He married Betty J. Bockelman on January 21, 1961, in Defiance, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on January 12, 2013. Survivors also include three sons, Barton Schwarzbek, of Sherwood, Ohio, Kent (Jill) Schwarzbek, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Mickey (Anita) Schwarzbek, also of Sherwood; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Mary Beth Smith-Gunn officiating, with military honors conducted by Bryan VFW Post #2489. Interment will be in Williams Center Cemetery. Memorials are requested to Trinity Lutheran Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
