George V. King, age 86, of Montpelier, Ohio, died at 8:40 A.M. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at his home after an extended illness. Mr. King attended DeKalb (Illinois) High School and immediately entered the United States Army, serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He worked in the turkey farm industry for many years. He was a member of the Bryan Eagles Aerie #2223, Bryan VFW Post #2489 and Pioneer American Legion Post #307. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his children. George V. King was born on March 29, 1928, in DeKalb, Illinois, the son of George G. and Oral S. (Quinn) King. George is survived by five daughters, Joyce King, of Goshen, Indiana, Jan Conner, of Jacksonville, Florida, Shellee (Ron) Freel, of Elkhart, Indiana, Jody Smith, of Bryan, Ohio, and Bonnie Armstrong, of Montpelier, Ohio; two sons, Jim (Debbie) King, of Pierceton, Indiana, and Josh (Louann) King, of Goshen, Indiana; longtime companion, Sharon Eash, of Bryan, Ohio; twenty grandchildren; and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Jacqui Diesch, former wife, Carol King, and one sister, Elaine Anderson. There will be no visitation and services will be private.
