Marilyn Lero, age 87, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 3:10 A.M. on Thursday, June 12, 2014, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan, where she had been a patient. She was a manager at Aro Credit Union. Marilyn was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, the Methodist Women’s Club, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Bryan Lioness Club and the Bryan American Legion Post 284 Auxiliary, where she had served as President. Marilyn was born on July 22, 1926, in Edon, Ohio, the daughter of Irvin and Esther (Hegar) Gearhart. She married James Howard Hurd in 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1985. She then married Laverne “Bud” Lero in 1998 and he preceded her in death on February 22, 2013. Marilyn is survived by her sons, James (Beth) Hurd, of Kansas City, Kansas, Don (Kay) Hurd, of Columbus, Ohio, Lyn (Jo) Hurd, of Gainsville, Virginia, and Mark (Teresa) Hurd, of Bryan; stepchildren, Karen Adams, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Gary (Nadine) Lero, of Defiance,Ohio, Linda (Paul) Bergstedt, of Liberty Center, Ohio, Peggy Pease, of West Unity, Ohio, and Kim (John) Lero Mahr, of Chicago, Illinois; seven grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Geri) Gearhart, of Montpelier, Ohio; and a sister, Judy (Jim) Husted, in North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands and five brothers and sisters. Funeral services for Marilyn Lero will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. in the Wesley United Methodist Church in Bryan with Pastors Becky Schofield Motter and Jeff Motter officiating. Burial at Edon Cemetery will follow the service. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, and one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Memorial contributions are requested to Wesley United Methodist Church.
