Harriette G. Carey, age 94, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014, at her daughter’s home in Cecil, Ohio. Mrs. Carey retired from The Aro Corporation’s custodial services department. She was a woman of deep faith and enjoyed gardening. Harriette was born on April 21, 1919, in Montpelier, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and Palma (Ewers) Henry. She graduated from Montpelier High School. Harriette married Donald L. Carey on June 18, 1939, in Montpelier and he preceded her in death in 1952. Harriette is survived by her sons, David (Carolyn) Carey, of Bryan, and Donald (Kay) Carey, of Campbellsville, Kentucky; a daughter, Deanna (Kenneth) Simpson, of Cecil; nine grandchildren, four of whom she adopted and raised after the death of her daughter, Jim Dirrim, of Pioneer, Tim (Cathy) Carey, of Parigold, Arkansas, Becky (Jeff) Rockey, of Edon, and Suzie (Mark) Holbrook, of Bryan; 21 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Carolyn Dirrim, three sisters and a brother. Services for Harriette G. Carey will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio. Interment at Edon Cemetery will follow the service. Visitation for Harriette will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials in the name of Harriette Carey may be given to the Community Health Professionals Hospice Program.
