Seldon W. Schad, age 88, of Bryan, Ohio, died on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at his residence. Mr. Schad was a 1943 graduate of Ney High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked at Libby Glass in Rossford and Bryan Welding Shop, was Plant Manager at Pepsi Company and retired from Spangler Candy Company in 1988 after 29 years of service. He was a member and former officer of the Bryan Eagles Aerie #2233, the Montpelier Eagles Aerie #2246 and was a life member of the Bryan VFW Post #2489. Seldon W. Schad was born on November 26, 1925, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Leon N. and Floye M. (Smith) Schad. He married Cleora Kay Finch on January 9, 1960, at Pleasant Lake, Indiana, and she preceded him in death on September 15, 2006. Survivors include one son, Tim Schad, of Bryan, one daughter, Ellen (Wayne) Harp, of Bryan, one sister, Colleen (Lauren) Posey, of Bryan, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Cleora “Kay” Schad, three brothers, Gerald, Cleon and Marvin Schad, and two sisters, Viola Towne and Cleola Schad. Visitation for Seldon W. Schad will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014, from 3:00-7:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Pastors Mark Holbrook and Becky Ploughe officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery with grave side military rites provided by Bryan VFW Post #2489. Memorials are requested to Bryan VFW Post #2489 or Bryan Senior Center.
