Delbert E. Bok, age 86, of Sherwood, Ohio, passed away at 7:40 A.M. on Monday, December 30, 2013, at the Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance,Ohio, after an extended illness. Delbert was a graduate of Farmer High School. He was a lifelong farmer, self-employed in Heating, Plumbing and Air Conditioning, and worked in Industrial Refrigeration at La Choy in Archbold, Ohio, for 23 years. He was a very active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sherwood, which was an important part of his life. Delbert enjoyed playing pool, bowling, traveling and spending time at the Senior Center. Delbert E. Bok was born on August 7, 1927, in Sherwood, Ohio, the son of Enos Henry and Eliese (Huth) Bok. He married Dorothy Wilma Behnke on October 1, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on December 14, 2002. Delbert is survived by his sons, David (Cathie) Bok, of Jewell, Ohio, and Ray (Kathy) Bok, of Sherwood; daughters, Jan (Bill) Hussong, of Wheaton, Illinois, and Marcia (John) Shipkowski, of Winfield, Illinois; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Rev. Wilbert (Martha) Bok, of Columbia City, Indiana; and a sister, Elma Kane, of Bay Village, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, Arnold Bok, and a sister, Mary Zacharias. Funeral services for Delbert E. Bok will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 3, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church, 9088 Openlander Road, Sherwood, with Pastor Kurt Letcher officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, and one hour prior to the service, at the church. Burial will follow the service at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Sherwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for St. John Lutheran Church, Sherwood, or the Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance.
