James A. Gunder, age 92, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 10:10 P.M. on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, in his home, following an extended illness. Prior to moving to Edgerton in 1999, he lived in Taylor, Michigan, where he was employed by Ford Motor Company, retiring with more than thirty years of service. He was affiliated with the Victory Barn Church near Edgerton and enjoyed tinkering with machines and inventing things, holding patents for two of his inventions. If it was broken, he could fix it or would make the tool to fix it. Photography was a passion of his and he enjoyed traveling and photographing the beauty in everything he saw. James A Gunder was born on April 20, 1921, in Six Points, Michigan, the son of Clarence and Goldie (Harman) Gunder. He married Constance Aileen Ferguson on June 23, 1940, in Wayne, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on November 6, 2002. Survivors include three daughters, Beverly Chamberlin, of Yuma, Arizona, Louann (Greg) Papineau, of Romulus, Michigan, and Debra (Ron) McCauley, of Edgerton; two sons, James Arthur (Marilyn) Gunder, of Findlay, Ohio, and David (Kathy) Gunder, of Mesa, Arizona; a son-in-law, Marshall Kennedy, of Newport, Michigan; more than eighty grandchildren, great-grandchilden and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, John Gunder, of Salina, Kansas; and one sister, Iva Lee Anderson, of Crestview, Florida. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Carol J. Kennedy, and one sister, Violet Long. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in the Victory Barn Church near Edgerton. Services will follow in the church at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday with Pastor Rosene Short-Mosley officiating. Memorials are requested to Community Health Professionals Hospice Care or to the Victory Barn Church.
