Lorna J. Geesey, age 71, of Montpelier, Ohio, died suddenly on Monday afternoon, December 9, 2013, in Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Bryan, Ohio, following a brief illness. Mrs. Geesey was a 1960 graduate of Montpelier High School and had worked alongside her husband, Norman, at Wilson-Geesey Funeral Home in Montpelier from 1967-2012, as well as working for Saneholtz Optometry for twenty-five years. She was active at First United Methodist Church in Montpelier. Lorna J. Geesey was born near Montpelier on November 5, 1942, the daughter of Donald and Audrey (Starr) Esterline. She married Norman A. Geesey on August 19, 1960, in Montpelier and he preceded her in death on February 11, 2012. Survivors include her daughters, Kelley and Russ Thompson, of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Greta and Michael DeGroff, of Stryker, Ohio; two grandchildren, Abigail M. (Alex) Bahret, of Perrysburg, and Benjamin R. Fisher, of Novi, Michigan; four brothers, Jack Esterline, of Spring Arbor, Michigan, Leland (Linda) Esterline and Bob (Jeanie) Esterline, both of Bryan, and Jim (Lisa) Esterline, of Montpelier; two sisters, Jeanette Manley, of Mesa, Arizona, and Bev (Vic) DeGryse, of Bryan; a brother-in-law, Duane Sumner, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Steven M. DeGroff, on April 28, 1999, and one sister, Linda Sumner. Visitation will be held in the Montpelier First United Methodist Church from 2:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 12, 2013. Services will be held in the church on Friday, December 13, 2013, at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Jonathan Hanover officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier. Memorials are requested to the Montpelier First United Methodist Church.
