Rex William Miller, age 61, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 5:28 P.M. on Friday, October 11, 2013, in his home surrounded by his family. Rex was a 1970 graduate of Montpelier High School and participated in basketball and track, where he still holds the records in the 100 yard dash, 880 relay and long jump. He graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Production Management. While at BGSU, he was a member of the record holding sprint relay team which included Dave Wottle, who went on to win the Olympic Gold Medal in the 1972 Munich Games. After graduation from BGSU, Rex was employed by The National Bank of Montpelier, working his way up to Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Head of Operations, retiring in October 2008. He was inducted into the Williams County Hall of Fame in 2004 and in 2013 and was elected to the Montpelier High School Hall of Fame. His passions in life included spending time with friends and family, his saltwater fish, antiquing, his Corvettes and sports of all kinds. Rex William Miller was born on May 11, 1952, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of Chester Dwight and Dorothy (Gilbert) Miller. He married Novra M. Byroads on March 18, 1983, in Williams Center, Ohio, and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Amy (Joel) DeLong, of Bryan, Beth Cook, of New Knoxville, Ohio, and Sara (Norman) Chamberlain, also of Bryan, and three grandchildren, Annika and Kirsten DeLong and Michael Webb. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services celebrating the life of Rex William Miller will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at 2:30 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Dorothy Ritchey-Moore officiating, with the family receiving visitors one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:30 P.M. Memorial contributions are requested to the Montpelier High School Track Program, Asbury United Methodist Church, or Community Health Professionals Hospice.
