Jeffrey A. Stryker, age 51, of Edgerton, Ohio, died late Friday, August 23, 2013, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Hillsdale County, Michigan. Mr. Stryker was a 1980 graduate of Edgerton High School and the Four County Vocational School carpentry class. Upon graduation he was employed by Lutterbein Lumber Company, then by the Ohio Turnpike Commission Maintenance Department for twenty years and recently was employed by the Indiana Department of Transportation. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and K of C Council #1494 in Edgerton. Jeff was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed working with wood, was an avid fisherman, runner, bicyclist and was an avid gardener who enjoyed canning and freezing what he grew. The son of Donald W. “Bill” and Anna Lorene (Herman) “Dolly” Stryker, he was born on April 18, 1962, in Toledo, Ohio. He married Cynthia A. (Perkins) Derrow on June 7, 1997,in Edgerton, and she preceded him in death on March 24, 2005. Survivors include his mother, Anna Lorene “Dolly” Stryker, two sisters, Carol Stryker and Jackie Zumbaugh, all of Edgerton, one nephew, Jason (Laura) Zumbaugh, also of Edgerton, two stepdaughters, Megan (Tim) Squire, of Auburn, Indiana, and Heather Garcia, one stepson, Steve Heath II, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, two stepgrandchildren and his beloved dogs, Wally and Brian. He was also preceded in death by his father and a brother-in-law, Elwyn Zumbaugh. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton with recitation of the rosary at 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday in the funeral home. Services will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Edgerton. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorials are requested to St. Mary Catholic Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
