Doyle “Pete” F. Lanius, age 81, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away at 2:05 P.M. on Monday, July 29, 2013, in Brookview Nursing Care, Defiance, Ohio. Mr. Lanius retired from Northwest Electric, working in facilities maintenance. He had worked at the former Pet Milk Company for 18 years and Bard Manufacturing for 15 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, was the first Troop Leader of Boy Scout Troop #222 sponsored by Trinity Lutheran Church and had been a 4-H advisor. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Doyle F. “Pete” Lanius was born on July 26, 1932, in Pioneer, Ohio, the son of Clarence and Lelia (Richardson) Lanius. He married Esther L. Foust on November 29, 1957, in Hillsdale, Michigan, and she survives. Also surviving are daughters, Diana (Rodney) Missler, of Bryan, and Lana Kelley, of Bryan; son, Franklin (Pam) Lanius, of Bryan; six grandchildren, Amy and Anthony Missler, Caitlin and Jacqueline Kelley, Alyssa and Danny Humbarger; a brother, Jack (Charlotte) Lanius, of Dade City, Florida, and sisters, Delores Baker, of Kunkle, Ohio, Yovonnah (Raymond) Miller, of Montpelier, Ohio, and Marvel (Ted) Rupp, of Stryker, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dwight and Dwayne Lanius. Funeral services for Mr. Lanius will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013, at 5:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, with Pastor Mary Beth Smith-Gunn officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00-5:00 P.M. prior to the service. Grave side services will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Bryan VFW Post 2489. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Parkinson’s Association, Cancer Assistance for Williams County, Trinity Lutheran Church, the Muscular Dystrophy Association or an organization of the donor’s choice.
