Dale Harroff, Jr., age 89, of Edon, Ohio, died at 2:10 P.M. on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Hillside Country Living near Bryan, where he had been a resident of Anna’s House. Mr. Harroff was a farmer who raised Spotted Poland-China hogs and had worked as a machinist at Powers & Sons until his retirement. Dale was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a Platoon Sargent in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Edon, Life Member of American Legion Post #662, where he had served as Post Commander, VFW Post #2489 and the Williams County branch of the DAV, a 65-year member of the Northwest Grange, a member of the American Legion 40/8 Club and Edon Lions Club. He also served on the Williams County Veterans Memorial building committee as was able to participate in Honor Flight in May of 2011. Dale Harroff, Jr. was born on December 13, 1923, in Northwest Township near Edon, the son of Dale and Helen (Beamont) Harroff, Sr. He married Ruth K. Brigle on October 21, 1944, in Edon, and she preceded him in death on December 14, 2005. Dale is survived by his daughter, Marilyn (Robert) Peterson, of Bryan, Ohio, and grandson, Timothy A. Peterson, of Columbus, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Funeral services for Dale Harroff, Jr. will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at 3:00 P.M. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Edon with Pastor Roger Marlow officiating. Burial will follow the service at Edon Cemetery with grave side military rites provided by American Legion Post #662. Visitation for Dale will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday. Services are being handled by Krill Funeral Service, 204 West Indiana Street, Edon. Memorials may be given to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the Williams County Veterans Memorial Building Fund.
