Betty Jean Florence, age 86, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 3:10 P.M. on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at her residence. Mrs. Florence had been a secretary for a real estate company in Chicago, for the East Lansing (Michigan) Schools and at Defiance Screw Machine Products. She also volunteered at the Bryan Thrift Shop. Betty was very active in Western Square Dancing as a charter member of the Fountain City Squares, a member of the Bryan Dance Arounds Club and a Western Round dance instructor. She loved sewing, camping and traveling. She and her husband wintered in Texas for many years. Betty was born on October 14, 1926, in Defiance, Ohio, the daughter of William Franklin and Genevieve (Hasch) Lang. She married Donald M. Florence on September 11, 1949, in Defiance and he survives. Betty is also survived by her daughters, Sally J. (Mark) Osborn, of Bryan, and Susan L. (Sam) Blackburn, of Edgerton; grandchildren, Kiley, Korey and Shawn Osborn, Tyler and Megan Perry and great-grandson, Asa Osborn. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Pamela K. Florence. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastor Dee Custar officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Health Professionals Home Health and Hospice, the Lupus Foundation of America or the American Heart Association.
