Phillip Allen Wells, age 82, of Ball Lake, Hamilton, Indiana, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 in his home. Mr. Wells served during the Korean war as a Sargent First Class and then worked as a railroad engineer for over thirty-five years in the Chicago area. He and his wife Barbara moved to Ball Lake in 1978 and he retired from the railroad in 1993. Phillip enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and was an active member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church serving Christ as a Trustee, as a choir member and song leader. Phil loved to sing and was blessed with a beautiful voice. Phillip Allen Wells was born on January 17, 1931, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Marion and Dessie Wells. He married Barbara Anne Shaw and she survives. Also surviving are three sons Mark Wells, of Springfield, Illinois, Matt Wells, of Midland, Texas, Jeff Wells, of Independence, Missouri, one daughter, Elizabeth Darr, of Dallas, Texas, six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. A memorial service celebrating the life of Phillip Allen Wells will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. in the Hamilton United Methodist Church, 7780 South Wayne Street, Hamilton, Indiana. Family and friends are invited to join together for lunch in the church hall following the service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers that memorials be given to Gideon’s International, Samaritans Purse or to the Hamilton United Methodist Church.
