Alan Humphrey, age 67, of rural Edon, Ohio, died at 1:35 P.M. on Saturday, May 25, 2013, in his home after a brief illness. Mr. Humphrey was 1963 graduate of Edon High School and served in the United States Army, stationed in France, from 1963-1966. He was employed as a Florence Township maintenance and road man from March 21, 1977, until his retirement on December 31, 2007. Alan Humphrey was born on October 8, 1945, in Angola, Indiana, the son of C. Dale and Luella May (McCrea) Humphrey. He married Gay B. Gambler on September 17, 1966, in Montpelier, Ohio, and she survives. Survivors also include three sons, Douglas A. Humphrey, of Montpelier, John Dale Humphrey (and companion, John Shaw) of Toledo, Ohio, and Steven Lloyd (Tara) Humphrey, of Pioneer, Ohio; three grandchildren, Amanda Reisbig, Tara Reisbig and Jacob Douglas Humphrey; three brothers, Robert (Susan) Humphrey, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Glenn (Karen) Humphrey, of Montpelier, and Wendell Humphrey, of Edon; one sister, Gailya “Gail” Phillips, of Dallas Texas, and a sister-in-law, Gloria Humphrey, of Bryan, Ohio. Preceding him in death were his parents, one son, Elmer Humphrey, and one brother, Jerry Humphrey. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon. Grave side services will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. in the Columbia Cemetery near Edon, with Pastor Mark Holbrook officiating. Memorials are requested to the family, to Relay for Life or to Community Health Professionals Hospice Care.
