Theyma L. Whitney, age 77, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 10:47 A.M. on Sunday, May 5, 2013, shortly after admittance to Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville, Ohio. Mrs. Whitney was a 1953 graduate of Edgerton High School and for many years worked at the Super Valu and then for Kaiser’s Grocery in Edgerton. She retired from Regent Manufacturing in Edgerton, working until the age of seventy. Theyma enjoyed baking her pies, cooking, sewing and especially her grandkids, who knew grandma’s house to be the land of “Yes.” Theyma L. Whitney was born on February 26, 1936, in Auburn, Indiana, the daughter of Gerald L. and Julia K. (Bennett) Kitchen. She married Richard L. Whitney on October 18, 1953, in Edgerton and he survives. Also surviving are two sons, Gerald Whitney and Dan (Penny) Whitney, both of Edgerton; two daughters, Julia Marie (Mike) Wright, of Edgerton, and Jodi Kay (Rodney) Conkle, of Hicksville, Ohio; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Thomas (Marcia) Kitchen, of Edgerton, and one sister, Sharon (Dale) Viers, of Delta, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at 3:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Pastor Byron Adams officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 P.M.. in the funeral home. Memorials are requested to Edgerton United Methodist Church.
