Ilene Faye Mowrer, age 79, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 4:44 A.M. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in her home after an extended illness. She was a secretary and assistant cook at Waldron High School for twenty years, worked as a Hostess at Holiday Inn for ten years and also had worked at Rite-Aid. Ilene was the co-owner of the Safari Sands at Exit 2 with her first husband. She was also a child-care provider to more than 90 children in the Bryan area and was a member of the Helping Hands program. Ilene was a member of Bryan Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #2233. Ilene was born on December 18, 1933, in Hudson, Michigan, the daughter of Lewis G. and Hazel (Conrad) Chapin. She married Paul Landel in Hillsdale County, Michigan, on September 27, 1949, and he preceded her in death. She met Douglas J. Mowrer at Safari Sands and they were married on August 7, 1982, in Montpelier and he survives. Mrs. Mowrer is survived by her sons, Randy (Danielle) Landel, of Coppers Cove, Texas, Steven Landel, of Somerset, Kentucky, Ted Landel, of Hillsdale, Michigan, and Scott Landel, of Findlay, Ohio; daughters, Susan (Tom Opdycke) Grubb and Ruth (Bryan) Spencer, both of Bryan; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Chapin, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and a special daughter-in-law, Alice (James) Wilson, of Killeen, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, three sisters and a brother. A memorial service for Ilene Faye Mowrer will be held on Monday, April 15, 2013, at 4:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, with Pastor Larry Snavely officiating. Memorials are requested to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers Hospice program or Cancer Assistance of Williams County.
