Norma J. Grunden, age 77, of Butler, Indiana, died at 4:00 P.M. on Monday, March 18, 2013, in her home after a brief illness. Mrs. Grunden was a 1954 graduate of Edgerton High School and a lifelong avid bulldog fan, rarely missing a game. She also enjoyed crocheting and being with her family. Norma J. Grunden was born on January 23, 1936, in Edgerton, Ohio, the daughter of George and Margaret (Miles) Meyer. She married Elwood “Woody” Grunden on February 28, 1987, in Sherwood, Ohio, and he survives. Also surviving are her children, George Sims, of Montpelier, Ohio, Tommy (Kathy) Sims and Charity Sims, both of Edgerton; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Elson, of West Jefferson, Ohio; three brothers, Joe (Lorna) Meyer and Bruce (Anna) Meyer, both of Auburn, Indiana, and Dennis (Lisa) Meyer, of Antwerp, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Nancy Meyer, of Defiance, Ohio; and three stepsons, Walt Grunden, of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Mike and Paul Grunden, of Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Mark Sims, in 1990, an infant daughter, Candace Sue Sims, one grandson, Erik Leggett, in 1989, and one brother, Jim Meyer. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013, from 1:00-3:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton. Services celebrating the life of Norma Grunden will follow at 3:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Private interment will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to DeKalb Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
