Laverne L. "Bud" Lero

November 18, 1925 — February 22, 2013

Laverne L. “Bud” Lero, age 87, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 8:30 A.M. on Friday, February 22, 2013, at his residence. Bud retired from Fulton Tubing/ITT Higbea as a Supervisor. He was a graduate of Ayersville High School and a World War II Army Air Corp veteran. He served in Sicily and Italy as a tail gunner. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, was a life member of the Napoleon VFW Post #8218, and he enjoyed wood working. Laverne L. “Bud” Lero was born on November 18, 1925, in Henry County, Ohio, the son of Henry and Golda (Dancer) Lero. He married Marjorie Gessner in 1947 and she died in 1975. He then married Beatrice Rose in 1976 and she died in 1997. He married Marilyn (Gearhart) Hurd in 1998 and she survives him. Bud is survived by his children, Karen Adams, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Gary (Nadine) Lero, of Defiance, Ohio, Linda (Paul) Bergstedt, of Liberty Center, Ohio, Peggy (Duane) Pease, of West Unity, Ohio, and Kim (John) Lero-Mahr, of Chicago, Illinois; stepchildren, James (Beth) Hurd, of Kansas City, Kansas, Don (Kay) Hurd, of Columbus, Ohio, Lynn (Jo) Hurd, of Gainsville, Virginia, and Mark (Teresa) Hurd, of Bryan; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lavina (Lester) Hoellrich, of Holgate, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first two wives. Visitation will be held in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, Ohio, on Sunday, February 24, 2013, from 1:00-5:00 P.M. and one hour prior to the funeral. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 25, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan, with Pastors Jeff Motter and Becky Schofield Motter officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Bryan American Legion Post #284 immediately following the service. Interment will follow in Archbold Cemetery at 3:00 P.M. Memorials are requested to Wesley United Methodist Church or the hospice organization of the donor’s choice.
