Betty J. Schwarzbek, age 71, of Sherwood, Ohio, and for thirty-nine years a resident of Williams Center, Ohio, died at 1:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio, after an extended illness. Mrs. Schwarzbek was a kitchen manager and had been employed at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home, Harborside Care Center, Orchard Hills Country Club, Moose Lodge #1064 and the Aro Canteen, spanning twenty-three years of service. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bryan, where she was active in the Ladies Aide, Bryan Moose Lodge #1064, and the Williams Center Community and Cemetery Association, where she formerly served as secretary. Her passions in life included playing BINGO, her grandkids, cooking and creating new recipes. Betty J. Schwarzbek was born on July 7, 1941, in Defiance, Ohio, the daughter of William and Norma (VonSeggern) Bockelman. She married Richard C. Schwarzbek on January 21, 1961, in Defiance, and he survives. Survivors also include three sons, Barton Schwarzbek, of Sherwood, Kent (Jill) Schwarzbek, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Mickey (Anita) Schwarzbek, also of Sherwood, eight grandchildren, one great-grandson and two sisters, Joyce Meyer, of Sun City, California, and Carol Greulach, of Van Wert, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Bryan, with Pastor Mary Beth Smith-Gunn officiating. Interment will follow in Williams Center Cemetery. Memorials are requested to Trinity Lutheran Church, Defiance Lions Club, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
