Marie M. Gallant, age 81, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 12:35 A.M. on December 29, 2012, at Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center in Bryan, where she was resident, after an extended illness. Mrs. Gallant was a 1949 graduate of Metamora High School and worked as a bookkeeper with many businesses in the area until her retirement. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she was in charge of funeral dinners for several years. Marie enjoyed playing cards and dancing and was an avid watcher of movies. Marie M. Gallant was born on August 13, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Julius and Rachel (Vereecke) Victor. She married her former husband, Jack Gallant, on July 29, 1950, in Assumption, Ohio, and he survives. Survivors also include her children, Terry (Michi) Gallant, of Port Orchard, Washington, Jackie (Larry) Lirot, of Bryan, Cindy (Dave) Castor, of Hamilton, Indiana, and Tim Gallant, also of Bryan; seventeen grandchildren, Michelle (Paul) Tucker, Angie (Joe) Lamareaux, Jenny (Chris) Van Slyke, Rick (Lisa) Weaver, Mike (Jen) Weaver, Kelley (Mitchell) Dean, Noel (Amber) Gaulard, Mollie Lirot, Charlene (George) Moskos, Mindy (Scott) Morgan, Craig (Misty) Campbell, Brandi (Clint) Nester, Kristin Harter, Casey Ward, Trevor (Jessie) Gallant, Tiegan Gallant and Taryn Gallant; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Rene Victor, of Lyons, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Natasha Gallant. A memorial service celebrating the life of Marie M. Gallant will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Jim Halleron officiating. The family will receive visitors for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 9:30 A.M., on Saturday in the church and continuing on with a luncheon after the service. Interment will be at a later date in Assumption, Ohio. Memorials are requested to St. Patrick Catholic School.
