Hannelore Elisabeth Marie Lowe, age 75, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 18, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Lowe was an Executive Cook for the Cummins Diesel and Ford Motor Companies and the Penske Racing Team and served many celebrities and Heads of State during her career. She received an award for creating a new recipe every day for a year and cooked for the German Ethnic Fest in Columbus, Indiana, for many years. She retired from Tru-Fast in Bryan in 2009. Hannelore was born on November 14, 1937, in Thiede jetzt Salzgitter, Germany, the daughter of Albert Paul and Elisabeth (Apel) Getzkow. She emigrated to England at age sixteen and worked as an Officer’s Cook for the British Army of the Rhine. Hannelore married Geoffrey M. Lowe on March 29, 1958, in St. Thomas More, Essex, England, and he survives. They emigrated together to the United States in 1980. Surviving Mrs. Lowe in addition to her husband are her sons, Stephen (Rita) Lowe, of Roade, North Hamptonshire, England, and Michael (Connie) Lowe, of Ohio; her daughters, Maria (Frank) Freeman, of Dover, Delaware, and Sonja (Robert) Young, of Daventry, North Hamptonshire, England; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilhelm (Olga) Getzkow, of Derenburg, Germany; and a sister, Gerda Durkop, of Hilesheim, Germany. She was preceded in death by her parents. Services for Hannelore Lowe will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 12:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, with Father Jim Halleron officiating. Memorials in the name of Hannelore E. M. Lowe may be given to Cancer Assistance of Williams County.
