Socorro G. Rivas

Socorro G. Rivas, age 86, of Kunkle, Ohio, went home to meet her Lord at 10:08 A.M. on Friday, November 2, 2012, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Rivas was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking and gardening and was very hospitable to all who knew her. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Fayette, Ohio. Socorro G. Rivas was born on February 9, 1926, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Ernesto and Maria (Aldana) Gonzalez. She married Antonio H. Rivas on August 14, 1940, in Harlingen, Texas, and he preceded her in death in June of 2000. Survivors include her children, Juanita Villarreal, of Fort Worth, Texas, Gilbert (Minerva) Rivas, of Fort Worth, Texas, Lupita (Manuel Martinez) Chavez, of Lantana, Florida, Dora (Ron) Miehls, of Ottawa, Ohio, Elodia (David) Wheeler, of Montpelier, Ohio, Martha (Bruce Thomas) Hernandez, of Bryan, Ohio, Jose A. Rivas, of Kunkle, Mary (Steven, Jr.) Krauss, and R. David Rivas, both of Kunkle, twenty-five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Antonio Rivas, Jr. and a son-in-law, Odilo Villarreal, Sr. Services will be held on Monday, November 5, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, with Pastor Mike Hartman officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery in Bryan. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 P.M. on Monday in the funeral home. Memorials are requested to Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers Hospital Hospice.
