Arthur J. Karnes

Arthur J. Karnes, age 89, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 11:41 A.M. at Community Memorial Hospital in Hicksville, Ohio, where he had been admitted earlier in the day. Mr. Karnes was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army. He was a former policeman with the village of Edgerton and worked at Edgerton Local Schools for many years and then worked as a tool and die maker with Custom Machine in Edgerton until his retirement. He was a longtime member of the Edgerton Masonic Lodge and the Bryan Masonic Lodge, was also a member of John D. Smith Post #10 of the American Legion in Edgerton and attended Gospel Light Tabernacle in Hicksville, Ohio. Arthur J. Karnes was born on February 27, 1923, in Edgerton, the son of Arthur Eugene and Frieda Elizabeth (Ebinger) Karnes. He married Helen L. Calvin on November 26, 1942, in Montpelier, Ohio, and she preceded him in death on March 26, 1990. He then married Alice L. (Bassett) Stark on February 14, 1991, in Stryker, Ohio, and she survives. Survivors also include one daughter, Linda (Fay) Entenman, of Edgerton; two grandsons, Jeff Kitchen, of San Antonio, Texas, and Steve (Bridget) Kitchen, of Montpelier, Ohio; two stepsons, Rick (Deb) Stark, of Edgerton, and Steve (Sheryl) Stark, of Hicksville; three great-grandchildren, Stacy, Miranda and Kharleigh Kitchen; five step-grandchildren, Bobbi (Jason) Martinez, Toby (Andrea) Stark, Jared Stark, Kimberly Stark and Ryan Stark; three step-great-grandchildren, Skyler and Kinsey Yoder and Gabriella Cox; and one step-great-great-granddaughter, Immalynn Yoder. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Duane Karnes. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edgerton. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Pastor Steve Stark officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton, with grave side military rites conducted by John D. Smith Post #10 of the Edgerton American Legion. Memorials are requested to Gospel Light Tabernacle.
