Virgie Nickells, age 84, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 1:55 P.M. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, in her home surrounded by her family after an extended illness. Mrs. Nickells moved to Edgerton in 1974 from Lima, Ohio, where she worked in numerous restaurants for many years. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts and spent many years as a Senior Center volunteer in Edgerton. Virgie Nickells was born on October 5, 1927, in Waldo, Kentucky, the daughter of Calvin and Dovie (Rowe) Williams. She married Sammie Nickells in 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1973. Survivors include her children, Tom Nichols, of Edgerton, Kelly John Nickells, of Lima, Diane (William) Pugh, of Edgerton, Sam (Dawn) Nickells, of Edon, Ohio, Charles Nickells, of Lima, Walter (Theresa) Nickells, of Edgerton, Cindy (Dennis) Kurtz, of Edgerton, and Jan (Misty) Nickells, of Lima. Also surviving are thirty-five grandchildren, fifty-two great-grandchildren, six greart-great-grandchildren, her beloved dog, Smokie, four brothers and three sisters. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Darrell and Danny Nickells, one daughter, Barbara Swickrath, one brother and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2012, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton. Services will be held on Monday, July 30, 2012, at 1:00 P.M. in the Cridersville Independent Baptist Church, where visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 A.M. Memorials are requested to the family.
