Elizabeth H. McCallum

Elizabeth H. (Moore) McCallum, age 93, of Fayette, Ohio, and formerly of Canandaigua, New York, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at the home of her granddaughter. Elizabeth was a registered nurse and U.S. Army Nurse Corps veteran of World War II. Born on January 6, 1919, in Bluff Point, New York, she was the daughter of Clyde and Helen (Voorman) Moore. She graduated from Eastwood High School, Syracuse, New York, in 1937 and from Syracuse General Hospital in 1940. She was employed as Plant Nurse for the Carrier Corporation. In 1944, she joined the Army Nurse Corp and served with the 178th General Hospital in France. Upon her discharge, she returned to Carrier Corp until 1953. She worked for Gorham Central School for one year and in 1954 joined the Veterans Medical Center at Canandaigua, New York, where she worked for three years and then returned to nursing school. In 1963 she began working for Boces in Ontario County and retired from Victor Central School in 1980. Elizabeth is survived by her son, Craig (Dawn) Borst, of Pioneer, Ohio, a niece, Kay Paddock, of Penn Yan, New York, her grandchildren, Christinana (Joshua) Ferguson, of Hudson, Michigan, Hannah (Richard) Poling, of Savannah, Georgia, Nicole (Robert) Mannion, of Paw Paw, Michigan, Zachariah Borst, of Hudson, Michigan, Joshua Borst, of Hudson, Michigan, Jessica McConnaughey, of Fayette, Ohio, Heather McConnaughey, of Pioneer, Ohio, her great-grandsons, Isaiah, Leeland and Jraihnoah, her great-granddaughters, Lillian and Madelin, and her former husband, Donald E. McCallum, of Canandaigua, New York. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Catherine Moore, and an infant brother. Elizabeth will be interred at Lake View Cemetery in Penn Yan, New York.
