Alden B. Leslie

Alden B. Leslie, age 96, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 9:37 P.M. on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at Hillside Country Living near Bryan after a brief illness. Mr. Leslie was a 1935 graduate of Bryan High School and attended Manchester College. He was a farmer, worked at the Ohio Art Company, farmed tomatoes, sold fertilizer for International and also sold Federal Crop Insurance. After retiring from the farm, Alden owned and operated L & B Bolt nut and bolt business. An avid coon hunter, he belonged to the NRA. He also attended Pulaski United Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for many years wherever he attended church. Alden B. Leslie was born on August 25, 1915, in Paulding County, Ohio, the son of M.C. and Wealthy (Workman) Leslie. He married Eloise F. Collins on November 2, 1936, and she preceded him in death on January 1, 1996. He then married Viola B. Myers on February 14, 1996, and she preceded him in death on August 12, 2009. Survivors include one son, Dennis (Tonya) Leslie, of Montpelier, Ohio, five daughters, Kathleen Brannan, of Bryan, Ohio, Ruth (Randy) Nester, of Edon, Ohio, Barbara (Rod) Eckley, of Pioneer, Ohio, Elaine (Ron) Hake, of Montpelier, Ohio, and Becky (Mike) Moore, of Montpelier, Ohio, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, one stepson, Richard E. (Donna) Myers, of Bryan, one stepdaughter-in-law, Cheryl Myers, of Fremont. Indiana, nine stepgrandchildren, thirteen stepgreat-grandchildren, one brother, Marshall (Joan) Leslie, of Stryker, Ohio, and one sister, Mary Alice (Elden) Carpenter, of Bryan, and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by one son, Stephen M. Leslie, two stepsons, Jerry and Dennis Myers, two sisters, Evelyn Miller and Erma Mignery, one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2012, from 2:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Friday, July 13, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. in the Pulaski United Methodist Church with Pastor Becky Ploughe officiating. Interment will follow in Shiffler Cemetery. Memorials are requested to Hillside Country Living Activity Fund or to the Pulaski United Methodist Church.
