Gary David Calvin, age 67, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 11:17 A.M. on Friday, July 6, 2012, in his home. Mr. Calvin was a 1962 graduate of Bryan High School, served in the United States Army and was employed by Continental General Tire, retiring in 2001, with twenty-four years of service. He was a member of Bryan First Presbyterian Church and was actively involved in the Great Banquet. Gary was an avid fisherman, enjoyed bike riding and traveling, especially to Mackinac Island and the Upper Peninsula in Michigan, and was known as a fun-loving gentleman who made friends anywhere he went. He was a big lover of animals, especially of his cats and grandcat, “Nero.” Family reunions were a special time for him as he was the longtime president of the Calvin family reunion. Gary David Calvin was born on August 20, 1944, in Bryan, Ohio, the son of David E. and LaMoille I. (Richter) Calvin. He married Kathy L. Everetts on March 21, 1981, in Bryan, and she survives. Survivors also include two daughters, Jennifer (Brad) Sampson, of West Unity, Ohio, and Cristen Calvin, of Toledo, Ohio; four grandchildren, Kaleb, Lily, Joshua and Trinity Sampson; one sister, Sharon (Don) Patten, of Bryan; and four brothers, Terry (Mary) Calvin, of Defiance, Ohio, Larry (Maggie) Calvin, of Harbor City, California, Dean (Julie) Calvin, of Findlay, Ohio, and Don Calvin, of Chicago, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services celebrating the life of Gary David Calvin will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. in the Bryan First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Barry Sweet officiating. The family will receive visitors for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M., in the church. Memorials are requested to the Great Banquet or to the Williams County Humane Society.
