Hazel Evelyn (Headley) Gerry Doster, age 93, of Edgerton, Ohio, and formerly a longtime resident of Garrett, Indiana, passed away at 4:45 A.M. on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, in her home in Edgerton, Ohio, after an extended illness. Mrs. Doster was a 1937 graduate of Edgerton High School and spent her early years working at the Basket Factory in Edgerton. She sold Avon products for several years in Edgerton area and was owner/operator of The Smart Shop ladies’ apparel store in Edgerton. After relocating to Garrett, she worked in real estate sales and during retirement spent many hours working on family genealogy research. Hazel Evelyn (Headley) Gerry Doster was born on January 13, 1919, in the home of her grandparents in Convoy Tully Township, Van Wert County, Ohio, the daughter of Wayne A. and Florence V. (Henney) Headley. She married later in life on October 23, 1967, to Robert “Al” Doster, of Garrett and he preceded her in death on November 9, 1999. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Carole and Harold Robert “Bob” Bunting, of Edgerton, one granddaughter, Karen Kay Bunting, of Edgerton, one grandson and wife, Dr. Darrin R. (Erin) Bunting, of Huron, Ohio, two great-grandsons, Samuel Robert and Leo Gilbert Bunting, of Huron, two sisters, Virginia Swift, of Montpelier, Ohio, and Berneda, and husband Ralph, Leppelmeier, of Edgerton, three nephews and one niece. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Lewis Gerry, a son, James Eugene Gerry, on October 12, 2000, her parents, two brothers, infant Paul Headley and Virgil Lavon Headley, one brother-in-law, Robert Swift, and a nephew, Daryl Leppelmeier. Services will be held on Monday, July 9, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. at Victory Barn Church near Edgerton. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 noon in the church. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the DeKalb County Animal Shelter or to the Williams County Humane Society.
