Rowena J. Mann, age 90, of Edon, Ohio, died at 3:49 P.M. on Friday, June 8, 2012, at Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers in Bryan where she was a patient. Mrs. Mann graduated from Edon High School in 1939, and received her Bachelors Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University in 1943. She began her career teaching in the Edon Northwest Schools where she taught for three years, then went to Kunkle for one year, Metz, Indiana, for seven years and then spent the next seventeen years with the Edon Northwest Schools where she taught Home Economics, retiring in 1975. After retirement she continued to substitute teach for many years. Rowena was a member of the Williams County Retired Teachers Association, the Ohio Retired Teachers Association and enjoyed being active with the Edon Senior Citizens. Rowena J. Mann was born on February 17, 1922, in Florence Township, the daughter of George and Velma (Thompson) Joice. She married James L. Mann on June 27, 1945, in Bowling Green, Ohio and he preceded her in death on May 15, 1995. Survivors include one daughter, Rosalind “Roz” (Conrad) Stark, of Edgerton, Ohio, two grandchildren, Sheila (Jason) Kos, of Bryan, Ohio, and Denny (Shelly) Stark, of Broomfield, Colorado, four great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Cole Burggrave, Taylor Stark and Mackenzie Kos and one sister, Ramona Heinzerling, of Edon. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Dennis James Mann. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home in Edon. Service will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Edon. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Montpelier, Ohio. Memorials are requested to the Edon Senior Citizens or to Williams County Cancer Assistance.
