Merlin LeRoy Breininger, age 75, of Big Clifty, Kentucky, and formerly a longtime resident of Edgerton, Ohio, died on Monday, May 21, 2012, after an illness of seven months. Mr. Breininger was a veteran of the United States Navy and worked at Hayes-Albion until the closing of the plant. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and small engines. Merlin LeRoy Breininger was born on April 14, 1937, the son of Hollis and Cora (Miller) Breininger. Survivors include three daughters, Cheryl (Terry) Karnes, Cindy (Duke Hutchins) Rau and Cathy (Marshal) Koiser, all of Bryan, Ohio, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one stepdaughter, two stepsons and two stepgrandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Lee (Ann) Breininger, of Mark Center, Ohio, and Donald (Alice) Breininger, of Edgerton, Ohio, and his former spouse, Marlene (Bobby) Metz, of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, one son, Craig Breininger, two brothers, Kenneth and Neal, and one sister, Thelma Aschbrenner. Services will be held in Kentucky at a later date.
